Runlit roundabout

In the Puigventós housing development in Girona, one of its main roundabouts and the surrounding accesses had a recurring problem: the lack of adequate lighting. At night, this point became a conflict area, with poor visibility for drivers and pedestrians. The feeling of insecurity increased and the risk of accidents was greater on a road which, by its nature, requires clear and constant visibility.

Insafety and high costs of conventional lighting

The community and the local authorities were aware of the need to improve lighting, but installing conventional lighting meant expensive work: trenching, wiring and electrical connections in an area with continuous traffic. In addition, there was the cost of ongoing electricity consumption and high maintenance. In other words, it was an impractical solution and difficult to justify economically.

42 Staria solar street lights for improved safety

The alternative came with the installation of 42 Staria solar street lights in and around the roundabout. Each luminaire operates autonomously thanks to its integrated solar kit, eliminating the need for grid connection and drastically reducing installation times.

The benefits were immediate:

• • Reliable operation even in low solar irradiance conditions.

Today, the Puigventós roundabout and its accesses are fully illuminated, offering residents and drivers a safer and more efficient environment.
