Introduction<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The highway in question connects strategic areas of the country, but faced a major challenge: lighting the extensive road without relying on the electricity grid. Staria's project focused on installing more than 1,000 light points along the motorway, using state-of-the-art solar streetlights. This work avoided the high costs and logistical complications that would have been involved in connecting such a large area to the grid.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Project's Goals<\/span><\/h2>\n

The main objective of this project was to provide an efficient and sustainable off-grid lighting system. <\/span><\/p>\n

This would not only reduce infrastructure costs, but also ensure greater autonomy in lighting, which is indispensable in areas far from the urban grid. <\/span><\/p>\n

Solar technology was the perfect solution for lighting the highway, especially considering the high solar irradiation that Chile receives for much of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Project Description<\/span><\/h2>\n

The work consisted of the installation of more than 1,000 lighting points along a long motorway starting in Santiago de Chile. <\/span><\/p>\n

The process included the design and adaptation of the lighting to the specific needs of the environment, taking into account both lighting regulations and local climatic conditions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Staria used their personalized projects<\/a><\/span> approach to precisely dimension the solar collection and energy storage in each streetlight. This ensured that the streetlights would operate optimally 365 nights a year, even in the months with the lowest solar irradiance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Used Technology<\/span><\/h2>\n

For this project on the Chilean motorway, Staria used the Infinity 340<\/a>,<\/span> specifically designed to meet the high lighting requirements of large infrastructures. This model is ideal for roads with high light demand and demanding climatic conditions, thanks to its ability to generate and store large amounts of solar energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Infinity 340 features larger capacity batteries and larger solar panels, ensuring full autonomy all year round, regardless of weather conditions. This system is designed to operate efficiently even in situations of lower solar irradiation, ensuring that lighting is never compromised.<\/span><\/p>\n

Road Safety Benefits<\/span><\/h2>\n

The implementation of solar streetlights has made a significant improvement to highway safety. Continuous, autonomous lighting reduces the risk of night-time accidents, improving visibility for drivers and pedestrians. In addition, the lack of dependence on the electricity grid means that the lanterns are not affected by power outages, ensuring constant illumination.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Environmental Impact<\/span><\/h2>\n

The environmental impact of the project has been notably positive. By using solar streetlights, the carbon footprint associated with the production and consumption of electricity in street lighting has been reduced. In addition, the solar lighting system avoids the need for major works to lay electrical cabling, which has minimised disruption to the natural environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Staria's streetlights capture clean, renewable energy during the day, allowing them to be used continuously at night without generating CO2 emissions.
